"My daughter is member of Smithfield Elks and we go there on Friday nights to eat. Their food is always delicious and not expensive, I also been many times in past to Elks on west shore Rd in Warwick,RI and had many good times, Sunday being Mother’s Day my daughter took me to Izzy’s in Narragansett, but it was cool day and very crowded, so we left and decided to go to Newport, for May 23,2014 my poor dear departed husband and I got married in Newport on May 23,1982. And it was very rainy day, but made best of it, so it was nice to be in Newport on Sunday, but Ella in Newport was wonderful, for we each got free drink and I got vase with two pink carnations, and people were very friendly, especially a very nice lady who introduced herself and lucky for her lives in Newport since 70’s . Love Newport and my deceased husband was Navy sailor and Disabled Vietnam Vet. So we will come again to Elks in Newport, my opinion that people were nicer cause most people in Newport are more friendly cause there nicer class of people, which I’m use to, not like foreigners in Florida. Thank you for being so nice to us."

"I had my wedding here on Saturday. Maria the event manager and Dan the facilities manager were wonderful to deal with. I am from out of town and they made wedding planning for their location a breeze. The lodge itself has a great old house feel to it and is quite large! The honor room was an absolutely GORGEOUS setting for our ceremony. Maria helped set up and break down and help us with anything we needed on the Friday before the wedding. Now let's talk food. I was BLOWN AWAY with the quality of the food. Lets face it .You go to a wedding and the food is kind of bland but you weren't expecting the most fabulous meal you've ever had because. The food provided by Newport Island Catering at the Elks was by far and away the best food I have had. Ever. The steak was cooked to perfection and it was a generous portion and a great cut. The fish was perfect and flaky and served in an amazing lemon butter sauce. The chicken was moist and tender. The appetizers were amazing too I wish I had been able to snag more of those! The only bad comment I have which isn't truly the elk's fault is that we had some elderly crashers who ate our appetizers, ordered from our open bar and came in to the reception room to dance. The elk's couldn't have known that they weren't with us and weddings can be confusing for the people involved (i assumed they were part of his family and he assumed they were part of mine 😂). All in all, a really spectacular night and I am so grateful to Maria who was the real MVP of the night and her staff. I wish we lived closer so we could come back for dinner every week!"
